Started in the Asphalt Industry in 1973 with an asphalt emulsion manufacturer as a mill operator and advanced to plant manager after several years with the company. The products manufactured varied from chip seal, tack coat, slurry and also included mixing grade emulsions.
From 1980 to 1987, worked for a testing lab involved with soils, cement stabilization, concrete and asphalt mixes testing and quality control inspection.
In 1988, started a paving company(Freisthler Paving Inc) which offered commercial lot design, complete construction as well as road work. The company was DOT approved for many paving aspects and licensed in several - OH, PA, TN and AL.
In 1995, started a subsidiary of paving company (Asphalt Systems Inc.) offering asphalt preservation products (fog seals) to assist customers in preventing the rapid pavement deterioration with lower cost processes.
In 2004 developed and patented a bio based product for pavement rejuvenation and sealing for use on asphalt driveways, parking lots and roads. After laboratory testing, for a number of years, in place for a history of performance "Biorestor" is now being offered to dealers across the country. "Biorestor" is on the USDA bio preferred list of sustainable products.
In 2008 started a manufacturing company, BioBased Spray Systems, LLC, to begin manufacturing of "Biorestor" and the specialty equipment required for application.
In 2010 sold the paving company to allow more time to focus on pavement preservation and bio based product development.
In 2011 founded USA SOY SOLUTIONS as a retail and wholesale distributor of "SOY" based greases, gear and hydraulic oils. www.usasoysolutions.com
Current owner of Asphalt Systems Inc. located in Sidney, OH as a contractor offering bio based fog seals for asphalt surfaces and focusing for the last 15 years on Asphalt Preservation (www.asi-roads.com)
In the past several years worked to establish dealers in several locations as well as worked with DOT's helping them to gain an understanding of fog seals, Pavement Preservation and a Bio Based choice.
Hobbies include golf and fishing.

With over 40 years in the asphalt business here is how it happened.
Bruce started paving in 1970 as a paver operator for BA (Regina) Construction, 1972 to 1975 for Mulder Bros.(Winnipeg). 1976 started first bobcat business, paving full time by 1978.
Founder of Bruce's Landscaping Services Ltd. and Bruce's Landscaping Supply Center, operating from 1978 to 1999. Started paving driveways and by the mid '80s had graduated to parking lots and city work. In 1999 sold the paving business but kept the hot rubberized crack sealing division of business which still operates today. Over the past three years has expanded back into the paving area with more concentration on the maintenance of asphalt, focusing on asphalt sealing, crack sealing and recycling asphalt. Has worked on a number of airports, large scale highway work, city and private business projects.
Partner in Nick's Pool Hall from 1995 to 2005, Saskatchewan's largest pool hall. (17,000 square feet). Sold to existing partner, who is still successfully operating this business today.
1985 purchased and developed a parcel of land located in Lumsden, Saskatchewan, under the name of Bear Holdings, which included 27 residential lots, and twelve stand alone bungalow condominiums. Built 17 of the homes located in this subdivision and resides there today
Major shareholder in a company that brought the technology of MagKnife to the golf industry. MagKnife, a revolutionary cutting system in the turf grass industry. Currently sold through Jacobsen, a Textron company. MagKnife was formally introduced at the PGA golf show in SanDiego in February 2004

Enjoys participating in racquetball at a National level. Has achieved his Level III teaching certificate in Golf, is an avid golfer, and enjoys playing slow-pitch.
